Coach Bolton is in his sixth season as the head coach of the girls’ cross-country team at Campo Verde High School. Prior to joining the Coyotes' athletics staff, Bolton served as Head Coach for boys track and both boys and girls cross country at Apache Junction High School from 2003 to 2012. In 2008, Coach Bolton led the AJHS boys’ track team to win the State title.
Coach Bolton’s passion for running is embedded in his personal running experiences, which include completing in three marathons and countless races of various distances including 5ks, 10ks, half marathons and distance relays. One of his long-time goals was to run the Hood to Coast relay race in his home state of Oregon, which he did in 2013.
As a chemistry teacher, Coach Bolton values academics and believes that meshing academics with athletics is a powerful combination. Bolton hopes to inspire his high school athletes to pursue competing at the collegiate level. He believes that the lessons learned from being a student-athlete will provide a strong foundation for success in adulthood.
In his spare time, Coach Bolton spends time with his wife, son (Hunter, who loves spending time with the team) and twin daughters. He enjoys traveling, exploring and running in new places.
