Cross Country Assistant Coach

Jessica Hughes grew up in Gilbert, Arizona and is a Campo Alumni. She did cross country in high school to socialize with her friends, but soon learned the value of conquering difficult tasks and building mental strength. She is excited to coach for the season with Coach Applebach, who coached her back in high school, and the rest of the stellar coaching team. She is most looking forward to supporting the athletes as they progress in their journey this season. Jessica is an elementary school teacher and loves to paddleboard, hike, paint and spend time with her family when she is not running with the team. Her favorite running quote by Dr. George Sheehan is: “It’s very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit.”
