In a hard-fought battle with Arizona D2's top teams, the CV Boys came up 6 points shy of a Runner-Up trophy at the 2018 State Championships. A few injuries made this season a challenging one, but every athlete's efforts made this journey a special one. Kenny Edwards finished 8th, and Wyatt Hanson 15th, earning each of them a spot on the podium and a State medal.
The girls team improved upon their 2017 placement at the State Championships by finishing 8th despite losing a teammate to illness. Sophomore Kaitlyn Bowe finished second-team all-state with a tremendous final race of the official season. Predicted to finish 25th, Kaitlyn took home the 14th medal. Kaitlyn later ran a 50-second personal best of 19:24 at NXR.
While each team fell short of their season goals for State, all of the athletes strived to put their best foot forward, and enjoy the journey at each workout and race. The season was loaded with personal victories as athletes overcame many new challenges. It was definitely a season of growth for the CV Cross Country program!
